In Japan, it is customary that people send summer gifts to
express special favor or gratitude for service they have recieved.
Some people send the gift to their bosses and some people
send to the teachers who are in charge of their sons and daughters.

These days this custom is getting less common between
young generation because it is very conventional tradition
and also it could be burden financially if they have
some people to send the gifts.

When Masaki was an office worker, we also bought and sent
some gifts to his bosses. Masaki was in the
first year in the company and he was the only one among his
colleagues who was already married, so we tried to be
nice and polite as much as we could.
But it was a burden for the young couple to buy
those boxed gifts to each of his bosses - you know it was
impossible to choose one certain boss to express our appreciation.

Anyway, it is so nice that Masaki can GET some of those
boxed gifts from his clients since he started his own business,
instead of giving to his bosses as an office worker himself!
