This fish is called SAMMA in Japanese but
when I looked up its
English name in the dictionary, I found three
different names,
and they are... Pacific saury, Cololabis
saira and Brevoort.
Which name is correct or is this fish not
at all common and
people do not care its name??
In Japan, I bet even a 5-year-old boy can
tell you the
name of this fish. It appears on our breakfast/dinner
table quite often in Japan : )
It may be a little difficult to recognize
in the picture above,
but in Japan, the cooking stove is usually
equipped with a small grill
so we can cook fish easily.
Grated daikon radish is essential in a grilled
fish plate,
because it plays a very important role of
excerting the excessive sodium outside our
body.
These days, I grate vegetables with a machine.
(I am sure your food processor does this
kind of job, too)
I have an old fashioned grater, too, of course,
but you know,
it is much easier to use a machine, and in
the long run, it is better
because I grate more and therefore me and
Masaki can eat more
of this healthy food! : )
And what's more, Masaki is willing to help
me when I
use an electric kitchen tool like a food
processor!
Well done.
Pour a few drops of soy sauce over the grated
daikon radish
and eat it with fish! Hmm yammers.... : 9
Why don't you come over to my home and have
dinner with us tonight?
