Masaki and I happened to visit the Hibiya
Park, which is located
near the Imperial Palace, on our way back
from the
Tokyo Station where I bought a trainticket
for tomorrow.
At a corner in the park, we saw an exhibition
of Japanese chrysanthemums.
There are so many kinds of chrysanthemums
in the world, and
some of them grow so easily and are sold
very cheaply.
But this special kind of huge chrysanthemums
need
very tender care to grow as you can see in
the pictures.
I do not think everyone in Japan like chrysanthemums
- in fact
I seldom buy any kind of them although they
are
very common to decorate Buddhists' family
altars.
(I usually choose other kinds instead - such
as carnations or daffodils)
But anyway, all Japanese people have at least
once seen
these huge kind chrysanthemums : )
Some of them are as tall as my height.
But it seems being too tall is not considered
very good.
These are BONSAI type.
These ones were very impressive to me.
I hadn't seen this kind before.
They are also as tall as the others although
the stems were
covered for some reason.
According to someone's explanation, this
kind of chrysanthemum is the original image
for
the Imperial crest of the chrysanthemum (see
below) .
It makes sense, anyway : )
