It was very warm, sunny spring day today : )

Even today, I often see these futon-drying here and there on sunny early afternoon.
But nowadays more and more people prefer feather quilts to heavy wool futon,
and feather quilts should not be dried in the sun.
In that case we use futon-dryer. (<-- do you use this kind of item too? Or is it
necessary only in humid Japan? )
Of course, more and more people prefer sleeping on bed to futon, too.

However, in the relatively inexpensive, family-type condominium like the picture above,
there is not much space and futon is very useful and reasonable
because they can be folded and put away in the closet during the daytime : )
