Guess what they are?
In Japan, everyone knows what they are and
how they are used!
We use them when we make steamed rice cake
for New Year's Day.
They are "very special" tools nowadays
and I don't think
it is common to own these things individually.
But many of "neighborhood associations"
own one or two and
people get together to enjoy mochi(rice cake)making
in
traditional way around New Year's Day. It
is a very fun event for children : )

These are Japanese TAIKO or drums.
They are very different from American or
European drums.
Old kimonos...
I saw a very precious, old kimono whose designs
are
tanks and cannons....
The owner said it was from wartime..
I wish I could take a picture of it.
I had never seen a kimono with such prints
on it.
